Good evening dear friends and neighbors. I am searching for more help on finding out which animals are locally extinct from the Driftless and the entire Upper Mississippi valley region cause I'm doing an art commission for my boss's brother who live near the Quad Cities. I already got an ancient Iowa snail, palid sturgon, Topeka shiner and others, but looking for animals that were almost once widespread in the Driftless and whole Mississippi valley. We just lost the passinger pigeon, Carolina parakeet, eskimo curlew, mountain lion, buffalo, and many others. The extinction list is long and hard to count cause there's so many species that went unexplored and not seen. I want my commisson to be historic and edifying to my boss's brother to satisfy him for awarness. Please show some documents and stuff, and then tell your stories or anything you wanna share with me from which animals you seen lately or in the past. Let's make this topic as productive as possible! Thanks.

Hi Blake, I’ll share this question with my parents if you like; they live near the Upper Mississippi Wildlife Refuge and know some people who should be able to answer these questions.

Glad to see you here on Permies tonight! I'll be working on my picture for an hour and go on one of my trips to help me draw for my Mississippi valley picture for my boss and her brother who live near the Quad Cities and Galena. Been to Galena? I been there for skiing.
