Three Practical Benefits of Using Grape Trellis

I had one wild Fox grape come up and grow over my chicken pen which is made of bent over cattle panels.  I canned over a dozen quarts of  tart juice from one vine and decided I’m planting some of my rooted Concord cuttings on the others.  Easy to pick, high enough chickens can’t reach the fruit and gives them much needed shade during the hot summer.  I also use the late fall pruning to feed goats.  Works for me.  

I started my first grape vines this spring. As with any new project, I wanted to wrap my head around all the different ways to trellis so I could make the best choice. To my surprise, there are HUNDREDS of ways to trellis/prune/grow grapes!
