I have found that tomato plants love raw milk. A surprise hail cloud hit  during a rain event. My tomato plants were 2+ feet tall, very vigorous and bursting with blossoms and little green tomatoes. The hail lasted maybe 2 minutes, but it was fast and furious enough to pound the plants into nothing more than frayed stems about 6 inches tall. 25 plants in all. Not having the luxury of a overly long growing season, starting over was not an option. So, I took 5 gallons of morning milk and dumped it on half the "remains" and repeated with evening milk for the other half. In a matter of days the plants were recovering rapidly. All but one that I missed dumping milk on...that one flat out died! I did not get a crop that season due to an early frost, but had huge plants with ripening tomatoes by frost time. Note to self...tomatoes love milk, lots of milk!
