Hi guys
I have collected most of my material to build my 8" rocket mass heater, I have my 8" riser out of quarter inch steel, my drum my bricks,30 feet of 8" stove pipe
Perlite, but I have no idea what kind of clay, I asked my father if we had clay on our property he told me no, he said he can get me a truck load of orange clay, is orange clay ok to build a rocket stove, if not what kind of clay would you suggest?
I'm in south jersey if that matters I have also read the rocket mass heater book a few times and purchased some plans from Ernie site so I could see what I was getting myself into and it looks like a fun build
Thanks everyone
Andy

I got my hands on a dump truck full or red clay! I don't think I have a need for that much but it was the deal and for free I couldn't pass it up!

Let us know how things progress. I am in central Jersey and just starting on one now. Good luck, later Nick.
