Got this for Christmas, after reading Paul's suggested reading post. Loved it ! Michael takes us through four Meals, three food chains. Follows our food through an industrial, pastoral and personal gathering of food to our tables. Very in depth discussion of how corn is king and in most everything the majority of Americans eat. Also discusses CAFO's ( Concentrated Animal Feeding Operations) where Americans process their meats. Spends time with Joel Salatin and family at their farm showing how it can and should be done. ( Led me to check out a bunch of YouTube videos of Joel's farm. Also excellent) Then as a hunter gatherer hunting wild boar and wild mushrooms. I have experienced many of the same feelings as a hunter. Very entertaining book , I learned a lot.
