I am a voracious reader, and enjoy reading a wide variety of books, so finding lists of books on topics of interest helps feed the maw, so to speak. I ran across this list of both fiction and non-fiction "Back to the Land" books and thought I'd share it here. It seems somewhat US centric ( I saw a lot of references to Maine in the descriptions) and I haven't read a lot of them so can't vouch for quality, (but why am I disclaimering books? There are so many flavors of book lover, it's sure to make someone happy!). They go from current memoirs to some pretty old books which should make for a good variety too!

Enjoy, fellow passionate readers!

Edited to add: the list was compiled by the Waterboro Maine Public Library, hence the hefty weighting toward Maine based books.
There is also a google doc of this list in case it ever gets de-linked; hmu if you need it.

What an extraordinary list of titles there! Besides those listed below, I have almost read a couple of the others, but most of them I have never heard of. Wow!

I absolutely LOVE Paradise Lot by Toensmeier/Bates. I have read it at least twice and made my sister read it too.

That same sister loved Wendell Berry's Hannah Coulter, which she sent to our almost-centenarian grandmother who read it twice back-to-back and also said it was excellent. (It is on my shelves now so I have no excuse.)

When we were teenagers long ago, our mother read us The Egg and I by Betty MacDonald (she wrote the Mrs. Piggle-Wiggle books, too). Mama almost couldn't read it for laughing so much through the whole book.

It does seem like a Maine-centric list. My husband's family is from there but they were not farmers, unfortunately. Businessmen and military men, in an interesting part of the country!

Now I am super curious what sports would be like if we allowed drugs and tiny ads.
