I've just begun my journey into the permaculture way of thinking (2 months of researching/obsessing). I'm looking for anyone in Bakersfield to discuss or collaborate on permaculture projects with.

I've just started a blog (http://bakopermie.wordpress.com/) to see my current situation. I currently have a placed lined up to move into around April where I plan on doing my own thing but would really love to get involved on something community based now.

Reply,PM or whatever. Let me know if you want to start something or have something I can join.

Regards,
Brian

I've recently got in touch with Amber, the director of Giving Tree Project here in Bako. Looking forward to working with her.

check out http://www.quailsprings.org/
they are just down the road from you on the other side of the 5.
they are doing work parties all/most of this month.
I bet if you have time and contact them, you could go volunteer, learn a lot and see a great, active permaculture site.
I know it's not right in your town, but you are very close to a very good place of learning.
they do pdc's and other classes too.

Hi Brian. I'm from Bakersfield too. Rosedale to be exact. I have been learning about sustainability and permaculture for a few years now but still have lots to learn. I too have just met up with Amber at the Giving Tree Project. It excites me that this oil town is developing a larger following of sustainability. I'd like to meet up with you so we can bounce ideas off of each other.

Anything going on out in Bakersfield these days? I'll be in town on the 18th and 19th. Going to try and check out Quail Springs but there don't seem to be any events or tours at that time.
