Peach tree dehydration or fireblight?

Hello,

Just this morning I bought discounted peach trees that were severely dehydrated.  Time will tell if I made a good purchase or not, but I'm sort of wondering if one (or maybe, even more) might have fire blight.

From what I've read about fire blight the criteria for causing it aren't being met.  It's been dry, cold at night and windy almost constantly.

The trees are from a box store and hadn't been watered for days and were severely wilted.

One of the trees has a lot of black bark along with the wilt and I cut a lot of it off.

I was wondering if the black bark might be caused by dehydration?  The wood from where I pruned it back seemed to have brown discoloration and if I cut it back far enough that seemed to disappear.

Thank you for any suggestions or replies.

Regards,

Tim

If you could get some photos of these black bark spots and the leaves to post, it might help get better feedback. I'm curious about the brown discoloration you described (and also if you have seen the plants perk up with your care since you bought them).

Thank you.  I've cut almost everything bad off, but will try to find something in what remains.  I decided to shake the worst tree just a little and the leaves fell off like the needles on the tree in the Charlie Brown Christmas special.   .   I think that it lost about half of the remaining leaves in two seconds.
Will try to get some pictures though.
