Howdy, my fiance and I are about to be "dispersed camping" (aka homeless in a tent in the woods) and I am worried about powering my CPAP machine (12 hours per night), especially during the winter. I'm usually very DIY, but I don't feel comfortable with all this electrical stuff and all the numbers are making my head spin.

I found a setup on Amazon (link below) that looks easy enough to use - but is it enough? It's super expensive so I don't want to make a mistake. Any advice would be GREATLY appreciated!!

Runhood solar

Thanks,

Dean

Hi Dean,

Welcome to Permies.

How may watts @ 110v does your device use?  Do you have a car?   How sunny of a spot do you expect to be camping at?   What state are you in? Cloud cover in AZ is different than cloud cover in KY.

I've designed systems for CPAP users before. Your first best step will be to by a $20 kill a watt meter and plug your device into it. Leave it for a few days and you will have a precise amount of power required to keep it running. Start with that and build a system around it. Walmart and Amazon are your best bets.
