Hi All;
This year has been loaded with rodent problems for us.
Mice in Liz's office and pack rats in her studio!
She was thoroughly pissed off and ready to do battle with the nighttime visitors...
I of course was in charge of finding, setting, retrieving, and disposing of her uninvited guests
Thank goodness, that they finally came up with a better trap than the original  Victor snap traps.
A mouse version that works 10 times more effectively than the old style.
And a Rat size version that is also super deadly to offending pack rats.
Although I have not had time yet, the rat-size traps should be screwed down to a foot-long board, this helps when your victim tries to crawl off.

Quite by accident, I bought two of the mouse-size traps at the grocery store.
Liz's office was getting a mouse problem and the old spring traps were not doing the job very well.
After catching 5 mice in three days I was suitably impressed!
Unlike the old traps, these do not require you to lift the snap bar with your fingers.
They open and set with one hand, they also release the mouse without touching any gore.

Liz was so impressed that she went online and ordered the same design but in a rat-size version.
She was very serious about this and bought a box of Eight traps!
The rat version has a nifty removable cover that allows you to bait the trap without setting it.
The mouse version I bought does not have that feature.
This cover also makes it impossible to eat the bait after the trap has been sprung.
On the old style, the bait was always licked off after the trap was tripped... not anymore!
The bait is set in a small cup, and the rodent has to stand on a plate to reach that tasty treat... very effective!
If a trap gets tripped without catching anything the bait is protected.

Here is a link to the rat version that we bought,  https://www.amazon.com/dp/B09MR5P332?psc=1&ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_product_details

EDIT) I forgot to say, that as of this morning, we have eliminated nine packrats from the studio and over a dozen mice from the office!

If you are interested in all the different mousetrap designs, Shawn Woods from Mousetrap Monday makes amazing reviews of all different kind of traps, from improvised to fancy expensive traps.

Here one of the later examples:

But I have to say I especially like his bushcraft mousetraps, or the oil bowl trap.
