Wanted to get some feedback on giving my girls some corn cob treats.  I am getting ready in the next few days to cleanup my summer garden and have corn on the cob leftover.  I read somewhere about tying the cob to a string and having my chickens have some fun eating it.  Has anyone tried this or do you cut off the kernels before giving it to them?

Welcome to the forum Sara!

I think hanging corn on the cob off a string would be great enrichment for the chickens and great entertainment for yourself.

In my experience, chickens will happily jump at and try to eat just about anything. Hanging chicken-edible things from a string makes it better. Having chicken-edible things that are Very Tasty to chickens dangling from a string? Absolutely awesome.

Fun to watch, too.

I've hung cabbage, thawed previously-frozen-fish-filets, sorghum seed heads, apples, broccoli (they didn't eat it but did perch on it like a tire swing), and carrots. Melons, cut open, are supposed to be fun, too, but I tend to dump things on the ground and stand back to watch the scramble.

I hope your flock has fun with the hanging corn cobs!

And now for something completely different ... OUCH! STOP THAT! HOLD THIS TINY AD!
