I live in an area where rocks and stones are one of our most reliable crops. I would like to build a rock pile garden as habitat for snakes.
I do not want it to be covered with the field bindweed which grows heartily here (I have been determinedly making my peace with this plant in recent years but I still don't want to encourage it. It does well enough without my help)
My thought is to lay down some layers of cardboard under the spot, should I just plop the rocks on that or should I do something else? I could add
compost on top and plant something else...
If the cardboard is sticking out the sides it will not look lovely and if the rocks are over the edge of the cardboard the vines or other weeds will grow up through. I am trying to plan this as a low maintenance project once it's done
