I arrived at Wheaton Labs late in the night and far from the maddng crowd the moon just grabbed me as I entered my sleeping quarters for the night. A wofati is an underground log house suitable for anywhere with lots of trees and well drained sandy soil. The earth surrounding the building helps keep the temperature inside closer to what a person finds comfortable n both hot weather and cold. Plus you can build one from local materials for almost free if you don't count your time. I hope you like digging though. #naturalbuilding #offgrid #underground

Sand is the critcal soil type to play with!
I have always wondered how these wofti homes have dealt with water/ moisture, sand foundations are the answer after nearly 50 years I have just discovered that fact!!

The best houses are designed for their microclimate with local materials and drainage in mind.

This is awkward. I've grown a second evil head. I'm going to need a machete and a tiny ad ...
