Not sure exactly how to title this..

It’ll be my experiences log after graduating from Bootcamp..

So far, I slept in a little each morning..
today is my second day relaxing in town.. enjoying city life one last time before getting to building the acre..

I was thinking yesterday about my favorite aspects of having gone through the Bootcamp program.. building with roundwood; and helping/watching plants grow..

Due to stratifictation a high loft bed works wonders for cold/drafty houses, maybe 10F warmer, than a low platform bed.

I wonder what type of shelther you will have for the winter? 4season camping?

POST 3 (DAY 771, Monday, 2022.09.19)

……. grateful for Is it Monday today???.. not sarcasm actually—I literally forgot.. the weekend was just a transitional phase.. today is the beginning of the week.. yesterday was the first night sleeping at my plot.. the ground was somewhat lumpy from the voles doing their thing at making ground lumpy.. my Teton four season sleeping bag kept surprisingly warm.. today we will set out to create a non-lumpy sleeping pad and pitch a canvas bell tent.. I’m lucky to have another person by my side to endeavor the near impossible.. second quest..

……. the plan is to build a heat system hood enough to luxuriate the winter.. storage space enough to keeping the freeze at bay.. food infrastructure enough to bring a sense of safety for regular access to plenty of calories..

Congratulations on the next phase!

A friend of mine swears by "brush shelters" for short term emergency winter housing.  If they're built thickly enough they work even in colder areas than Montana.  They can be as large as you want.  She says a good one takes a week or less to build.  Make a survival brush shelter

POST 4 (DAY 773, Tuesday, 2022.09.20)

……. grateful for adventure..

Things learned:
1) roundwood.
2) gardening.
3) I like carrots, love alliums, and bonkers about water (maximizing etc; think krameterhoff).
4) alone time is recharging; and so is wholesome together times.
5) repair instead of replace.
6) I can skip breakfast and dinner on most days.. to feel lighter and surprisingly energized.
7) I can wake up without an alarm clock for two years.. it’s a different kind of rhythm yes—and the pros outweigh the cons.. “start the day before it starts you.”.. I didn’t know if I could do it and here I am two years later, one step closer to living without a clock.. hehe.. the plot Thicccens..

That's a big change in your life, Dez! From 'one of the boots' to permanent living on your own plot at Wheaton Labs (or is it Ant Village?).

So you have a sleeping bag that will keep you warm in the tent during cold Montana winter nights? Will you build a small RMH there? In the tent, or in a future house (or Wofati)?

I'm seriously so excited for you, Dez! I look forward to the abode you build and all of your adventures. Your plot is very well deserved. Here's hoping the cold weather holds off long enough for you to build a cozy home!!!
