I am this many years old and just learning of Naiper (and Super napier) grass. Impressive stuff. Not as high in protein as say Sunn Hemp or sorguhm; but the bio mass is incredible.
I get it that it is a tropical plant and may not grow perennially in parts of the temperate zones; but wow. What it could do for one's soil and livestock.
Feedipedia entry
He is claiming 40 (metric) tons per hectare in in 60 days. That is 25 tons per acre (slightly more since it is in metric tonnes.) It can be cut every 30 days if one does not take it too low. Animals prefer it in its younger stages. A 30 day high tonnage roughage source could be a game changer for some. I have some research to do. thought I would share this in the rotational grazing forum. This plant has been in the US since 1913 (tested and researched at Tifton); and I have never heard of it. This intermixed with clover hemp, sorguhm and perhaps velvet bean would make a great dry land pasture combo for grazing.
