Spring is here. The snow is melting. It’s time to get started on the new year.
I am looking for folks interested in Living on my off-grid property. There is existing infrastructure in need of upkeep and maintenance as well as many opportunities to develop more. There’s room for up to 6 folks and plenty of opportunities to practice your skill sets here.
The property is about 30 mins outside the town of Ashland. It’s 80 acres of forestland that sits within the cascade/siskiyou national monument. An area designated for its incredible bio-diversity. The property abuts both usfs land and blm.
If you’re interested in learning more, reach out and tell me some about yourself, including you interests and skill sets.

Greetings Leaf!
Writing to see how are things going with your project as the year winds down here. Are you on site and active through the winter season, or mostly letting things rest?
I am in and out of Ashland some over the next couple months, juggling work on my own setup just over the Siskiyou Crest and elsewhere. Interested in finding a chance to visit and possibly assist, or at least get acquainted and give some kudos to your efforts so far.
Sounds like a very nice setting. Cheers!

Thanks for asking Ben. It always seems like things are happening slowly but after a couple seasons (or years) you step back and are able see actual progress. That probably sums up this year. Feels like there's so much to get done, yet some real progress was made. Trying to focus on appreciating that. Had some help, found here on Permies (big props to this community) but the early snow has brought everything to a pretty abrupt halt. I'm still in and out throughout the winter but expectations for productivity are curbed way back. Mostly try to get up there to enjoy the snow with my kids. I'd love to connect with another local trying to make it happen. Always good to make those connections. Let me know when you've got some time, or your next trip to Ashland. I can meet you in town, or on the property, Which is off the Mt. Ashland Ski Rd., for reference.

Spring is here. The snow has all but melted. Time to start the new year.

I have some forestland in Southern Oregon, outside the town of Ashland. Feels very remote and wild, yet it's a mere 25 mins to town and along the major west coast route, I-5. Midway between SF and Portland, this off-grid property is in need of people. Good people. The infrastructure is slowly coming together but needs ongoing attention and new projects are piling up. If you are looking for an opportunity to Live and learn and grow in a beautiful part of the country, this may be an opportunity for you. Tel me about yourself; what interests you have, what skills you bring to share, and which you hope to learn.

Some info about the place. It's off-grid, so not electricity currently other than generators when needed for projects. There is fresh spring water plumbed to various spots on the property, a few cabins available. Each in various states, but each livable. There are components for putting in a centralized solar system to provide on-site power without running generators. There is an endless number of projects to be taken on. Specific projects I am hoping to undertake this year include installation of a couple ram water pumps to help gather and store water from additional locations on the property, and installation of a solar system. Those are just a couple but there are many more that are priorities for me and maybe others you'd like to bring to the table. There's clay on the property, for cob-work, and many other natural materials to incorporate into projects. Maybe get a willow-feeder toilet going. Again, endless opportunities. If you're looking to earn your SKIPS and PEP badges, this is the place.

Reach out if you're interested and we can talk more. Goos luck in your search.

Hello Leaf! Your place near Ashland sounds amazing. My partner and I are in our late 40s, originally homesteaders from the Alaskan Bush, and looking for a long term communal situation. We are kind and gentle woodworkers, artists, teachers, musicians, parents, animal lovers, and he is also a blacksmith.

I just started raising quail and rabbits and we are both interested in learning more about Aquaponics and Cobb structures. I just learned my partner Mike actually goes way back w Paul Wheaton when learning cordwood construction.

Would love to connect more and chat about your needs.

Thanks for your consideration, L & Mike.
