where to put your livestock guardian dog

With a crop mob system where you have multiple padocks of livestock where do you put the dog? For example my ducks are in the orchard, my chickens are in the forest, and my goats in another paddock in the forest. If i fence the LGD in with the goats he cant get out to protect the ducks and chickens. I am thinking of keeping the LGD out of all the fences and let him roam the property. Or does every group get their own LGD? that seems a bit over kill though.

Heres one vote for run free, a good outdoor guard dog will deal with the situation with dispatch before you notice the difference in its bark, but it should always get
a word of encouragement when you catch it doing good, and vice versa ! Big AL

Drew, Do you have a fenced perimeter that the dog could patrol. That way the dog could protect the whole property at once.
