Has anyone ever tried to identify which variety of rose they have? Particularly with the old fashioned or antique roses? I have some I dug up from a previous property that I'd love to identify. I am hoping to learn to propogate them, and perhaps sell them. It would be nice to know what they are instead of making up a name. Is there a way to do this? Or is it all expensive lab testing type stuff?

There are so many different variety of roses in general and lots of pink roses.

Every year more rose varieties are added.

Mr Google says that the Apple store has an app called Instant Rose that will suggest the exact or similar Rose types once you focus the device camera at a flower. 790 rose cultivars may be currently recognized by the app.

Please let us know what you have.

Hmmm, I don't have an apple device. The only thing I can find on Android is "PictureThis". Which does a great job of telling me it is a rose :)... not good enough for specific rose varieties I guess.

I wonder if I can find any rose people in my area that might have an idea. Trying to look at on google to see what type. Could be Gallica or Damask for the type?

A local rose society or garden club will be your best bet, better than a local nursery. Or a rose garden, if there is one nearby. You could also try writing to one of the online rose companies, like High Country, and sending a few photos.

A new kitten. What are we gonna name it? How about tiny ad?
