We moved to beautiful northwest CT two years ago to start our permaculture dream on a 10 acre off-grid farm.  Unfortunately life had some twists and turns and we are leaving for two years for grad school (possibly returning for the growing season).  We are going to be renting out the house, but what a shame it would be if our garden went fallow and we had to rehome our animals while we were away.  Our hope is that we can find a trustworthy someone to help care for the farm while we are away.

We have an animal barn and a workshop barn, chickens and a barn cat, 10 small fruit trees (just starting to produce), a small lovely pond, and about 20 large garden beds (which we are expanding).  We are planning on adding more chickens, a few ducks and geese, kune kune pigs, and nubian goats.  As well as expanding the garden, we are planning on using the pigs and goats to clear some of the forest.

This opportunity is perfect for an experienced person or couple looking for land to practice on. If our farm does well, we want you to do well too. We are open to your input regarding operations and are offering a percentage of farm sales and rental income as well as a weekly minimum salary. Current work is minimal, but we hope to increase the farm activity with additional animals. Right now, responsibilities would include feeding and rotating the animals, assisting renters in case of any issues, maintaining the garden beds, and general yard maintenance (we have a riding mower and snow plow). We expect that rentals will be short-term and we hope to show everyone that visits the farm the wonders of permaculture.
