A frothy pale orange slime mold showed up a couple of days ago on the hugelbeet that we built a couple of weeks ago. It seems to be growing on an Egyptian walking onion as well as on the soil surface. This morning I noticed another one growing in the
wood chip mulch around one of our blueberry bushes, and it seemed to be growing right up the bush.
Is this harmful to the plants? I know it is breaking down the wood in the beet, but
should I be concerned? I read that a similar slime mold can cause respiratory issues and asthma. For now I will just observe it, but I am curious. Does anyone have
experience or knowledge about slime mold?
The photo I have shows the slime mold after it has lost most of its color.
