Hi guys, I have a question and need advice. My peach tree usually gets watered with a bubbler 3-4 times a week. Unfortunately during the hottest time of the year during 2 weeks of triple digit heat in southern california my peach wasn’t getting watered due to a sprinkler malfunction that went unrecognized.

The leaves are now dry and a lot of the branches are easily broken. Some branches are still bendy but, looking for advice on a gameplan to help it recover and see if it blooms next spring.

It has been getting watered regularly since the watering issue was corrected. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Also, in the summer I’ve noticed some sappy residue building and cracks to the bark forming around the trunk. Any idea how to remedy that aswell?

I lost possibly 15 trees to the same heat wave plus drying winds and mountainous sun. They were watered two or three times per week and even figs and pomegranates could not stand it, so I'm not shocked about peach response.
I would scratch the bark in various places to see if there is green color visible. I would keep watering, but not too much due to lost leaves. Ultimately you will really know in spring.

You frighten me terribly. I would like to go home now. Here, take this tiny ad:
