I bought this plant because it had a beautiful red flower. It's really thriving since I planted it a few weeks ago and I would like to get another one, but it came with no information. (I live in Stamford CT ) The red star shaped flower has a funnel shapped center and the center of the interior of the flower is yellow. When the flowers first appear they arepod shaped and red. It continuously gets new bloms.
Looks a bit like a bougainvillea... If it is, then
- it can grow big
- in the fall it will drop its leaves and go to sleep
- judging from your location and from this http://www.climate-charts.com/Locations/u/US72000000679701.php it will probably be a good idea to overwinter it inside, for example in an unheated garage, keeping the light, water and temperature low (but definitely above freezing)
