Earth Learning and Big Small Farm are proud to present Jono Neiger, one of the most experienced Permaculture teachers in the US, teaching “Introduction to Whole Farm Design”, an Advanced PDC short course, right here in Central Florida! This class should be very valuable for permaculture designers, farmers, land owners and anyone who wants to get their master plan design jump-started.

Course dates/times: Aug 12 & 13 (9:00 am – 6 pm (with 1 hour lunch break) on the 12th and 9 am – 1 pm on the 13th; there will be a tour of Big Small Farm, a non-profit farm incubator after that).

Course description: Learn the fundamentals of whole farm design in this advanced Permaculture short course. The course will take place at Alexandra Lake Farm, a mostly sustainable permaculture-ish sheep farm in Dade City, Florida where we will learn hands-on how to apply the design process to bring forth resilient, productive landscapes with a diversity of integrated components. The class size is limited to 10 students, so there should be a lot of personal interaction and attention to the problems that matter to each of the students. The class is a mostly indoor class (yes, there is an AC, yey!)

Price: $100 per person, which includes a camping site or a place to unroll your sleeping bag indoors from Aug 11 to Aug 13. Two people will be able to attend for a reduced price ($50 each) in exchange for help with setting up, running the class and cleaning afterwards. The reduced price spots are first come first served with preference given to students and people who work for non-profits.

Food: not included but there are few places nearby where reasonably healthy food can be purchased and there will be a small kitchen available. If there is enough interest in running a shared meal plan we can do that as well.

Location: 21308 Trilby Cemetery Road, Dade City, Fl 33523 (about 40 minutes North from Tampa or 1 hour West from Orlando). The area is blessed with great many recreational resources (hiking, biking, horse riding, kayaking) and we may be able to arrange for your free camping to start earlier or be over later so that you can take advantage of it.

Transportation: this is a rural area, so you’ll need a car to go pretty much anywhere. We’ll try to arrange carpools from Tampa and Tampa airport as well as carpools to stores and restaurants – please let us know in advance if you want to participate in one.

Contact us: You can register and pay here http://earthlearning.mayfirst.org/civicrm/event/info?id=14&reset=1. You can ask questions here or send an e-mail to leon@bigsmallfarm.org

Thanks and I hope to see you there!
