garlic in KS

Hello all. Sharing pics of my small harvest of garlic this year. 1st time growing out here. The heads are large though & taste great. Half the cloves came up. Planted Hardy German garlic last fall. Mulched well. Seems a family of rabbits found this bed the perfect home. Was watering early spring and the mulch began to move. .. out jumped 5 baby bunnies each about the size of a small avacado. Cute factor off the charts. Never saw them again - fox & her kits live here too.
1st time posting photos - trusting I handled the process correctly.

That is beautiful garlic, Cynthia! I am wondering if your mulch was thick enough to harbor bunnies if that might have been why half didn't come up? Here ours grows a little...six or seven inches...in the fall and then I mulch around the plants. I don't know how that works farther north where the winters are much colder.

I thought the same thing Judith about the rabbits eating those cloves. Enjoyed thinking of bunnies with garlic breathe
I lighty mulch in fall after planting then place 4-6" to keep the garlic from heaving in the freezer/thaw cycles we have. Had rabbits nest in culinary herbs I hadn't pruned one year. Wonder if the smells confuse predators at all? Did see one hanging out in the chard yesterday - It has out witted the fox so far.
