Gearld Fry and Ridge Shinn have spoken a great deal about the correlation between high butterfat and high intramuscular fat in cows. Does anyone have any information on the average butterfat content of various beef breeds? I've read that Devons have above 4% butterfat, but I'd be interested to find out about other breeds such as Murray Grey, Lowline Angus, Aberdeen Angus, etc.

Jerseys have nearly 5% butterfat and while generally considered purely a dairy cow, a well-raised Jersey has wonderful meat.
I've never had milk from a purebred Murray Grey, but they're great beef cattle. It's quite common over here to cross them with Jerseys.
Dexter have over 4% butterfat. Awesome little animals, ideal for a small place.
