I know not to burn poison ivy because of it being dangerous to breathe the oils in the smoke. Does composting it neutralize the oils? If not, how do y’all get rid of it after you’ve pulled it?

The collective answer to this question is, no.  For the same reason you don't want to burn poison ivy it also should not be composted. The oils can linger on dead plants - even dead composting plants - for at least 5 years.

I guess I would compost it by throwing it in a dark dry corner and cover it so it won't get light and won't root.
Then when it's all brown I'd dump it in a wet spot and dump other plant material on top of it.

I noticed an absence of poison ivy in my horse field, so perhaps it can feed livestock...?
