SEASONAL PART-TIME EMPLOYMENT WITH HOUSING ON VASHON ISLAND
August–September 2025 (Maybe longer)| Ideal for Students of Horticulture, Botany, Permaculture, or Wellness

We’re hiring a seasonal part-time employee to assist with gardening and homestead projects on a peaceful, forested property on Vashon Island. This short-term position includes housing as part of compensation and offers a chance to gain experience in regenerative land care, while living in a beautiful, nature-connected setting.

đź“‹ Position Details:
Hourly wage: $20.29/hour (WA minimum wage)

Schedule: ~15 hours/week (some flexibility around weather and workflow)

Duration: August–September 2025 (possibility of extension if it’s a good fit)

Compensation includes housing:

Private, fully furnished 1-bedroom apartment

Separate entrance, utilities & Wi-Fi included

Valued at $1,400/month as part of overall compensation

You’re welcome to hold outside work or income sources outside of the hours we agree on

🌱 Job Responsibilities:
Garden and landscape care (weeding, harvesting, composting, etc.)

Support with seasonal homestead tasks (pruning, path maintenance, bed prep)

Assist with chicken care and other small livestock systems

Offer ideas for DIY, budget-conscious enclosure design

Optional opportunity to help host or lead wellness/yoga gatherings on the land

All work is aligned with Forest Stewardship values—no chemicals used

You’ll be working alongside a small household, including current tenants who are in an active learning phase—so this is also a great opportunity to share knowledge and collaborate in a land-based setting.

Vashon Island, WA — If you've never been, it's a soulful, rural gem just a 20-minute ferry ride from Seattle or 15 minutes from Tacoma. 👣 A Good Fit Might Be:
Reliable, grounded, and comfortable with hands-on, outdoor work

At ease around animals and kid energy

Interested in regenerative gardening, permaculture, and low-impact living

Hi there, my name is Matthew Daley. I'm super interested in the position described, and have 3 seasons of prior farmhand experience with blueberries, back home in the Midwest. I truly love and have passion for sustainable agriculture, local farms, and being involved with the process of learning most importantly. If you are still hiring, I'm located in West Seattle, a very short commute to Vashon. Thanks so much for your time and consideration,

All the best

Matthew Daley
