Larry Evans is known as "the mushroom guy" here in Missoula. He's got some pretty slick wizardry in my opinion.

Two comments:

Shaggy manes go from 'choice' to 'past their prime' in a matter of hours. If they have started to liquefy at the bottom of the gills, you can swish it vigorously in a bowl of water to get the spore goo off of what you would still like to eat. But don't throw the water with the spore goo away! That is prime inoculation material.

A blender on the counter top is primitive 1970s bachelor bartender technology. Now this immersion blender



this is what you want to be using to blend up a bucket of mushroom inoculate!

Boss. I wanting more essays on fungal ecology but then I was like "American Matsutake (tricoloma magnivaler) across spacial and temporal scales" sounds like it might have interesting information in it. Killer!
