Have I said it all in the title?

The "post a thread about yourself" meme doesn't seem to be taking off, so I think I'll check the other conversations...

Where do you live? Where would you like to settle and use that green thumb!?  I'm new to this, been studying for awhile, and just about to plan a food forest for my front yard in the San Francisco Bay Area.  Also looking for a partner, friends, green thumbs to help with the work and sharing the harvest!

I'm generally on the other side of the Pacific. I visited SF in 2008/9 - great city. Currently hovering around SE Asia.

But thanks for the offer! I do hope to get spend a lot more time in California some day, but not sure when.

Are most people in this forum in Western countries, or are some in Asia?

I poked around in the "change profile" area, added some info, but my Palo Alto, California location still doesn't seem to show up by my post.

It would be great if folks' geographical area (when they choose to share it) would show up next to all their posts.  Especially when growing things, climate & location are so important to know if the new information is relevant to us or not.

Thanks for the nudge, Darshana. I filled in my profile a bit more, but my location doesn't display here either. Sounds like a question for Paul Wheaton...

Aha! A quick look on the  "tinkering with this site forum"?  and I see we need to add that info to the "Personal Text: " field of your profile. Try that.

Thanks!  I changed that to have my location show up first.  I do wish there was room to say more in that field though - I had to remove my "looking for a sweetheart" part, as there was only space to say "sustainable friends" and that seemed more appropriate for here!

"Sustainable friends" is a great place to start. I find that having thinking friends who care about the world (even if they're not specifically permies, or part of the green movement) is a great way to meet other interesting people. Shouldn't be hard to meet interesting people in SF, and if among them you find a sweetheart, all the better. Good luck!
