Cob Oven

Here are some pics of my Cob oven project. I plan on using more cob around the base to cover up the broken curbing, but found that the actual oven worked fine with just the clay in my yard.

I was surprised how many buckets were required to make this thing happen.

I just removed the sand and am waiting for it to dry out. Maybe this Saturday I will light the first small fire and see how it handles.

We are getting some rain right now so I have it covered and hope to find someone who knows how to make these mostly waterproof. Does anyone have a good lime wash recipe? Thanks.
