Hi all,

I'm a new poster to here, though I and my wife have been stalkers of this site for quite some time now, hehe. I've tried finding information on this topic, but have yet to find a topic that dealt with the idea I have...if anyone knows of a topic that deals with this, please post the link so I can go to that to continue my exploration!

Ok...so...I and my wife want to build an earth berm shelter for my goat herd for a variety of reasons. I've been tossing around ideas with my wife on the *ahem* various logistics surrounding this project, and I had a thought: would it be possible... or feasible...to incorporate a hugelkultur bed into the (south facing) wall of the earth berm? We have a small property, and I'd like to be able to use every inch of what we have to grow whatever I can on it, lol! If I have to settle for a grassy knoll, so be it...but if I can get something else, and not have to think about watering it so often, hey! Also, this would cut down on the amount of earth I'd have to use to build the earth berm with...ideas?

Thanks!

So are you going to berm in that south wall or are you talking about potentially excavating for a garden bed right to the south of your wall?

Eliminate 95% of the weeds in your lawn by mowing 3 inches or higher. Then plant tiny ads:
