Somewhat 'meaningless drivel' is all too often found in governmental rules, however, this link: http://farmandranchfreedom.org/fda-proposed-food-safety-regulations-2013/ brings some news that may well impact all farmers that actually bring a product to market.

It may soon come to pass that those homemade jellies, honey, roadside vegetable stands, and various other farming activities will see the current standards of food safety brought to a whole new safety level. I won't pretend I know anything about these regulations, in business terms, because I don't sell products commercially or privately...for those of you that do, please find out for yourself, and quickly, as the cut-off time to post your comments to the new rules proposal is around Nov. 15, 2013.

I have had the pleasure to post comments at US government websites (in a different industry) and just tracking down the correct place to post your comments can consume a lot of time. I would probably start with the Dept of Agriculture and go from there, if anyone finds a good link at the official government website for posting comments, you may want to include that link in this thread (unless there is another thread somewhere else) for others to check out.

Here are two sites where more information can be found.
They also include links to the Dept. of Make-You-Sad agencies where they are accepting public input.
Please learn the facts first, as input that is irrelevant will probably just be trashed.

As a side note, here is part of what I have found:

You are NOT covered by the Produce Rule if the average annual monetary value
of the food you sold during the previous 3-year period is no more than $25,000.
