Hello fellow premies,
My family is currently on the lookout for land on which to build a sustainable homestead in Washington State. We are eager to live in a community of like minded people who are also homesteading. I have heard that the Okanogan County is full of homesteaders but, I am hoping to have some other options. Does anyone know of other areas in WA that are not too crowded (No more than 75 people per square mile) and have a large population of folks who are living close to the land?

Thank you,
Rachael

Hi, welcome to Permies.

There is a search engine for just this sort of thing. Check out the Intentional Communities directory for a listing at http://directory.ic.org/ where they also sport a map option so you can view your state of choice. Be wary though. some of these places might not meet your ideal standards if you have conservative values. For me its one of the discouraging aspects since I have very strong Christian biases.

Hi Rachael,

I am in the seattle area and in the next 1-2 years a group of like minded people will be buying a large 100-300 acre property to build a small community on. All of these people are strong Christians but want the homestead lifestyle for themselves. If you are interested in a land purchase contact me via PM. Same goes for anyone.
