Hello!
I've been lurking about Permies for quite some time now....and it's nice to actually be writing up a first post:)
I'm writing on behalf of my family of four who are inspired, eager, and lovers of the
land!
My husband and I are both in our thirties with two awesome kiddos; 2 and 5. We sold off our life and careers in the
city several months ago to follow our dream of
Wwoofing through our beautiful country on farms and homesteads to learn more about growing food,
sustainable building/living, and sharing space with others. My, have we learned a lot! Our journey has
led us to beautiful northern California, where we hope to find someone(s) who need/want helping hands in exchange for room/board/collaborating. We have an RV set up, and are a self sustaining unit.
In our travels we have learned and shared much, and have gained a fair amount of knowledge in bio-intensive
gardening as well as larger scale farming, seed saving, working with
chickens, goats, and horses; my husband has lengthy
experience in building/fixing/wiring, etc, and is truly a jack of all trades in that arena! We would both LOVE to help in any sustainable building efforts, or would love to help in general in the right environment. Northern California appeals to us, because of the amazing weather,
energy, and ability to grow food so diversely.
Although we have appreciated community, and living around and with people, we prefer to do so with generally positive kid friendly folks or families who enjoy life and working on the land! This is important to us! We are homeschooling our youngins' at the moment and value having people around who will equally benefit from being around the beauty and curiosity of young children.
We are definitely a drama free, loving family who are somewhat enjoying the slow pace of life right now. We enjoy being around our children, having our hands in the dirt, doing outdoorsy things, and living simply and quietly right now. But we are upbeat and motivated to garden, build cool things, tend to the land, and learn what we can while doing all that:)
