Homesteading and Twins!

Hi there,

I am looking for volunteers to come and work in exchange for room and board from February to May here in Idaho (I have volunteers for January already). We have a little homestead with a milk cow, milk goats, ducks, pigeons, a hoophouse, a commercial kitchen and sauna. We love to have company and share what we know. This request for volunteers is a bit different though. You see I just found out I am having twins. I am due April 1st and in the next few months I will have to take it really easy so that the little ones stay in long enough. So the need for volunteers to help my husband and older children with the chores is really there. If everyone works together it should take about 5 to 6 hours a day and the children will have their homeschooling to do part of the day....so you will have a break, time to sauna, and explore. If any of you would like to work on midwifery skills I could also offer the opportunity to get experience with basic skills and of course twins.

Wwoofers have been integral to our little homestead and I've been putting my efforts toward long term payoff projects and trying to keep things simple. I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have if I can.

My twins were born the customary way, no c section, both were plenty big (6lbs14 and 7lbs4) and I breastfed them for about 26 months, until I was a few months pregnant again.

Thanks so much for your reply! I would love to talk! We are on a couple of volunteer organizations as well and they are very helpful.
You beat me on the twins weight. My first set was 6lb 10 oz and 7lb 1 oz. So good job!

It's remarkable how early and tiny babies can be born and still do perfectly fine.

Did you say "my first set"?!

Yup! My first set of twins were born almost 14 years ago now. It is amazing how small they can be.... When I attended births with Hispanic Moms some of the full term singletons were 4 lbs. I think one was actually 3 lb 15 oz and perfectly beautiful and healthy! ....but since my other children tend to be in the 9 to 12 lb range I feel more comfortable getting them as big as can. lol

Thank you so much for inquiring. As of right now I have a full house through Mid-March. I am still open to work exchange. We are located in Kooskia Idaho, and provide food and a private room with a shared bath in exchange for 5 or 6 hours of work a day. We are on grid for now, with the average amenities. We also have a sauna which we fire up a few times a week usually. I am not really looking for child care or help with the babies, but an extra hand to keep the property in shape and moving forward. The average work has to do with property improvements, animal care, upkeep on the green house and garden, help in the kitchen and light house duty, If you are still interested you can PM me for goal details and we will see if our family is a good fit for you.

I am feeling great, and the babies are growing well and very active! Way better than I could have hoped. It won't be too much longer and I have a ton of projects to keep me busy until the moment comes.
