Intro to Permaculture
Saturday, February 08, 2014 (2:00PM - 5:00PM)
Location: Bradner Gardens Park
Create a more holistic and sustainable garden by learning the basics of permaculture.
Learn how to go beyond organic gardening and use “systems thinking" to create efficient and abundant gardens that integrate human needs with the natural ecosystem. The goal of permaculture, short for “permanent agriculture” or “permanent culture,” is to minimize inputs and nurture relationships between plants, animals, environment and people. This class provides an introduction to permaculture ethics and principles as well as an overview of techniques that can be applied in an urban environment. You will leave this class with a greater understanding of the ecology at work in your backyard and learn ways to integrate the natural systems on your site for a more holistic and self-sustaining garden.
This class is lecture-based with some group activities and opportunities for questions and discussion.
Intro to Permaculture is a great precursor to our intensive Permaculture Design Course, and pairs will with Organic Gardening 101.
