Somebody suggested "silk road" and I have to say that it was on par with, if not superior to, the finest restaurants in Seattle.

I've heard that there is a place in the basement of the wilma?  What is that?

Went to Silk Road last weekend and all four of us were delighted with our appetizers.  Two or three are probably an adequate meal & you can get out for ~$20 or less.

Had a to die for elk osso bucco at Pearl's Cafe, they have been consistently excellent every visit.  French Provencial cooking, nice atmosphere.

Where is "Pearl's Cafe"?

What is "elk osso bucco"?

Osso Bucco - is an Italian dish, traditionally made with veal shank. The original dish was without tomato sauce but a  modern version is tomato-based. Delicious! Have made it with lamb as well - an elk version sounds yummy.

Pearl Cash (formerly of the Alley Cat restaurant) opened the Pearl Cafe in the old building on Front St which used to house MCT's Front Street Theatre (now home to the Trailhead)

Scotty's Table is at ground-level of the Wilma - opened originally as Marianne's...where jackets were required!

The Red Bird restaurant and also their wine bar are another option for fine dining.

Personally my own kitchen is a favorite.

Do they still have something of a dress code?

Really no dress codes in Missoula!  Those coming directly off floating the river are welcomed to open their pocketbooks.

Sure, Love to have you over - Truly the only place where we know the source of the foodstuffs is our own kitchens, hmm?

Most people seem to really like The Depot but I didn't find it terribly impressive.  Finn & Porter looks very upscale but an employee I know there says to avoid it at all costs.

I don't remember if Scotty's Table is still open but does anyone know a high class place to eat around town?

I prefer Guys Steakhouse in Lolo but still wouldn't call that "fine dining".

What about curly's?  I ate there about 20 years ago and it was mighty fancy.

Wow, I went there as a kid!  I've forgotten about that place as it is only open from 4pm on.  I feel like an old man as I like to go out about 3pm for food before it gets terribly busy.
