I was thinking when I have leftover "fat" that is no longer suitable for cooking or just too much to use (chicken fat, coconut oil etc...) I could make some sort of bird food out of it. I'm not so sure on all the logistics and ingredients though and would like some ideas and input.....

I know this is an old thread but nobody answered you.  This is first time here so to me it is a new thread.  I often make my own suet cakes.  I just melt the fat in a double boiler and when it turns liquid I add stuff like birdseed, maggots or other larvae, dried fruits, or anything your birds would appreciate.  I then pour into a cardboard box lined with tinfoil.  Let it cool, cut and serve.  The birds love it.
