Stone's Throw Ecovillage is buying land in SW Wisconsin, 54665, and we would like to begin site design this summer. We would like to bring an experienced site designer to offer a workshop with our land as the tabula rasa for design ideas. Please contact me through a message here or by calling 608-637-8018.

Not all at once please.

How about recommendations for designers? We'd gladly take those. So far we are contacting Mark Shepard of New Forest Farm, and Nat Larson of Steward's Draw.

Just so you don't have to click on our website to hunt for details, we are planning a 15 home community, clustered with a common house, on 12 acres in SW Wisconsin's driftless region-- one of the prettiest areas in the Midwest. Yes, the slope faces south and there is some level area, springs and a stream, old growth oaks in one corner and a raft of apple trees that are well along in years. If you can recommend a designer with experience in this type of small landholding, we'd appreciate it.

You should check out The Permaculture Project & Midwest Permaculture, both are reasonably local to you.

I don't recommend any kind of a PDC in order to obtain a design. A first design is usually not peoples best. What you want is to get educated so that you can make better decisions around how you put your ecovillage together. You'd probably best be served by some sort of design that comes together over the span of several years. That's a lot of money to spend on a consultant, better get educated!

Thanks Mason. The two folks I mentioned are very close to home, in Wisconsin. Virginia is a bit far afield.

I have completed a PDC, so I understand enough to know we want a very experienced designer, especially one who can integrate residences and our community center into the entire site design. Still open to suggestions.

Not sure where you're getting Virginia from. The Permaculture Project is in Carbondale, IL but is teaching a bunch at Kinstone in Fountain City, WI in the Driftless area. Midwest Permaculture is in Stelle, IL just SW of Chicago.

Oh, Wayne Weiseman. Thanks for letting me know. I went to their website and the first page says they're teaching a PDC in Virginia. I didn't go any farther.

Hadn't heard of Kinstone, thanks. They are very close.
