Greenhouse Home

Hi green friends,

I'll build a new greenhouse home; I mean I'll live in the greenhouse where I also grow all kinds of organic veggies and other plants. The design would focus on eco-friendliness and health; it'll use the composting septic system; the green energy will be used for heating, like solar, wind, composting gas, rocket stove, etc.

So I really need a lot of help to let this ideal come to life in 6 months or so; the volunteers would be most welcome; and I'll pay for the expertise and quality works for the design and labor.

Sounds very exciting. Do you think you will have a separate climate control area for the main living? I love being in greenhouses, but living in one would get a bit hot and wet for comfort. In my dream design, the sun side of the house is basically an attached greenhouse that can be vented either into the living space or out, depending on the season.

What is your local climate?

There's a Bed and Breakfast in Cape Cod that has a greenhouse on the south side of the building with lots of heat sinks - stone wall and I think also containers of water dyed black. It opens to the living area and the thing is really really nice. Is that something like what you're thinking or do you want the whole house to be "greenhouse"? Because some folks would feel a lack of privacy.

i believe this (heat and humidity) is why newer earthships now include a wall between the greenhouse and the main house.

i also think it depends on climate.
