Pizzelle Iron

This neat gizmo is a stove top pizzelle iron. I'd never heard of this waffle like cookie before buying the thing at a junk shop.

I paid $8. They go for $60 on eBay. It's a bit heavy for camping, so I'll use it in the cottage. It looks like something that could result in burnt fingers. Gloves needed.

Mmm. I love pizzelles. You want a recipe? It's pretty easy - I use anise seeds in mine. FYI, "Sugar cones" for ice cream were invented when an ice cream seller at a world's fair ran out of cups and convinced the pizzelle guy to fold his cookies into cones to put ice cream in.

Krumkake the Scandinavian version. I have one floating around somewhere.

I wonder if sugar cones are the same as waffle cones ? I think we'd all like the recipe. Thanks CJ.

They say that iced tea was also invented at a World's Fair when the weather was so hot and muggy that hot tea was not popular. They iced it with lemon slices and had an instant hit.
