permies.com has many wonderful topics - but everything is broken down into categories and sub categories. As someone who is trying to browse, learn and take part in many different discussions, I spend a lot of time clicking into each category to see what discussions are active. Is there any way we could get an alternate page that shows ALL active discussions, regardless of what category they are posted under?

Recent topics is my normal view. Top right side option, right above the purple mooseages button.

Getting caught up as a new person is hard, but there is SO much information on so many topics that you can't keep it straight. Doing a search for your question/item of interest makes it possible to follow an idea through.
