On Monday my order of 8 American Buff geese ship. I have been planning for these critters for a while. The feed store has baby ducklings, so cute. I have not been planning for ducklings. Were I to succumb to impulse, can I raise them in the same brooder for a couple weeks? The goslings should be a day old when they ship; the duclkings at the feed store will be ~ week old.

I have bad news for you. I raised ducklings and goslings together successfully last year. The geese protect the ducks and they all move in a mob. They have the same needs except the goslings are able to live exclusively off forage whereas the duckling need supplemental feed (which the geese will steal) for the first several week. My condolences on your inevitable purchase.

I was spared. There were no Khaki Campbell ducklings at the feed store. I'm kind of glad, I don't need another feed bill. I need grass eaters. We are ready for the geese to ship tomorrow.

I can only imagine how difficult that would be. I hatched one duck out of 12 eggs and I am grateful for a poor hatch. I can not believe how much of a mess it makes. The poop was all cleaned up and fresh water 4 hours ago. Now it is a total mess.

There are no more "hours", it's centi-days. They say it's better, but this tiny ad says it's stupid:
