raised bed permiculture?

ok do you think it would be doable to do a raised bed forest style? all of us have bad knees so plants need to be at a level that doesn't require us to bend down to pick foods. i was thinking 4ft by 4ft beds that sort of surround a dwarf fruit tree. again knee problems make ladder climbing problematic but not sure if this will work the way i want it to or not and i want some opinions.

It seems to me that there are a couple of cons to doing this. One, the lack of height separation between your raised beds and your dwarf fruit trees. Effectively means you cannot plant under the tree's drip line, the tree's branches would be pretty much in among the plants in the bed, which I would expect not to work out so well.
Second issue I foresee is that you don't get as many of the synergy benefits of growing the guild when the elements are separated by the raised bed structure.

I think you can do an area that has both raised beds and dwarf fruit trees, but I do not think you can achieve the integration that makes for a full "forest garden"
