I've noticed that California does not actually fit in to any of the current regional forums. Perhaps one could be created for it? After all, it is reasonably large. Perhaps 'West Coast'

It doesn't really fit, since we get more rain and less heat than the Southwest. California has a Mediterranean climate, unlike the more desert-like Southwest.

Everything you have said is true.  And, at the same time, there is the constant dilemma of how to divide the forums.  I think that once the southwest usa forum gets too many posts, I will probably separate.
