Hi,

Excuse me if I've missed any recent discussion of this in my search of posts.  We've had some unfortunate experiences lately that make some cameras maybe a good idea.  But there's some preferable criteria to consider given our situation.

We'd like to find some reasonable cost camera system that:
Does not rely on a subscription service
Has local storage
Has solar cameras or can otherwise function without frequent battery changes

There is electricity and WiFi on site.  But would not wish to run wires to cameras unless necessary.

Figure this might be the place to ask for off-gridish camera advice.

Thanks!

Look at iegeek.
WiFi camera with solar charger.
They are about $50 per unit. It texts you alerts to motion then you can log in for picture/videos.. No subscription required, but there is an app you have to put on your phone. I am very funny about apps leaking info to the cloud and it's not bad in that regard, but not as good as a DVR with local only storage.
That kind of setup will be twice as expensive.
Hope your issue resolves itself peacefully.

Surveillance cameras will work for a long time with batteries and solar chargers are common.
Wi Fi I think would be handy if its sent back to a central viewing point and stored.
The biggest issue I have seen is bad quality images.
Excellent quality gear is available, you just need to check it out.
Some can send it to your phone!!
