We have a field that seems perfect for growing lots of squash - our own landrace of different varieties! .. but we have gophers!
I noticed this year that one gopher kept visiting our bed where lots of squash volunteers grew this year. He cut and drew into his hole most of them, the last to be taken was a spaghetti squash and the one and only gray zucchini was never touched, even when the gopher kept creating mounds around it. So I will save seeds from that zucchini for sure!

Have you identified any varieties of squash that gophers avoid? I would be so grateful to have so options
