I have lots of wild sarsaparilla growing in my woods. I've heard that you can make a good tea from it, but I can't find good directions. Anyone have a good method?
Look up recipes for root beer, there are several videos on YouTube. The sarsaparilla roots are only used for flavoring, the bulk of the ingredients are sugar and molasses, which are allowed to ferment. This guy has an interesting recipe:
Sassafras is the tree. Sarsaparilla is the drink made from the roots, hence the name root beer. Try it & you'll never go back.
The cajun spice called file' is the ground up leaves. A thickener used in gumbo. Use a little okra while cooking then a little file' as a topping. That's the real thing bubba!!!
