Power Point clicker/laser pointer that is not a flimsy piece of garbage?

I use a laser pointer/power point clicker every day.  Recently, one conked out on me so I had to go get a new one--unfortunately, I have gone through several and they have all beenf garbage!  They have all been made of the seemingly cheapest, flimsiest plastic possible.  I really hate the long skinny ones--I have large hands and I find these hard to fit my hand--they are too small!  But dang, are they ever (seemingly) popular!

My real wish is one that was possibly made of steel--something that was solid, dense and had some heft.  I want to know that I am holding it in my hand.  I once had a laser pointer that was so light and so flimsy that I got really excited about a particular topic and I squeezed too hard on the pointer and I crushed it (accidentally) in my hand!  It did make for a an entertaining scene in class--students knew that I was indeed interested in the topic.  But I really need a pointer that I can't just crush in my hand by getting overly excited.

So steel is my go-to preference.  But maybe ABS plastic (think tool housing) would work--still plastic but not so darn flimsy.

Anyone have any ideas?

I am not sure what you want. If it is a simple laser pointer that does not interact with your computer, I would look in astronomy circles. lasers are used to align optics.  Expect to pay in the $50 range.

Hi John,

Those are beautiful laser pointers!  My father has one and I love it.

What I need is a remote tool that acts partially like a limited-function computer mouse.  It generally has a couple of buttons on it for advancing or reversing a PowerPoint presentation and they are very handy for use in class as I can advance the text without having to physically go over to the computer.  They also have a laser pointer which is great for focusing attention and making my otherwise jittery and ADD-appearing movements look natural and spontaneous yet focused and sage-like.  Wonderful that a little piece of technology can make me look sage-like.
