I got a phone call today, it was from my mother. Of course, my mother has been dead for 20 years. As a matter of fact I didn’t answer it.  The phone number had the same typo as the one in my address book.

The term for this is "spoofing" if you have not heard of it before.

Spoofing is when hackers or ne'er-do-wells manage to imitate trusted sources to try and gain a target's trust.

You then end up with instances like this where they miss the mark by a wide berth.
